Why Rejuvenate in 8?
1. Better control of current and future health
Many people wouldn’t think of consulting a naturopathic nutritionist or even their doctor for mild health issues that they may consider a ‘natural’ consequence of getting older. They don’t realise that even relatively minor symptoms, such as getting the odd headache, low energy, digestive problems, insomnia and aches and pains are their body’s way of telling them that it’s not happy. Very often it’s not until their quality of life is more impaired that they may decide – or have – to do something about it.
Even then we often take a ‘sticking plaster’ approach rather than tackling underlying causes. Most of us just don’t seem to have a prevention mindset. We tend to be more reactive than pro-active.
Rejuvenate in 8 takes you step by step towards a healthier way of life to help you not only feel better and look better in the short term but give you the peace of mind that you have some control over your healthspan and how well you age in the longer term.
2. Cost and availability
If you had your own personal health coach and trainer it would be a lot easier to get and stay healthy, but most do not have the financial means to do this, let alone the time to devote to it.
I firmly believe good health guidance should be accessible to everyone. This was one of the key drivers for this program; it is affordable both to buy and to do. You can choose to spend extra on various items mentioned if you wish but it is not essential and there are plenty of tips to make the diet and lifestyle advice sustainable in every way, including financially.

3. We know what we SHOULD do but it's hard to stick to it

Most people have a rough idea what they should and shouldn’t do and eat. We all know we need to move more, eat more veg and cut out or down on the things that affect our health adversely.
The problem is that it is hard for us to do this, for many reasons which we will discuss. You will find that you don’t have to be extreme or deprive yourself to get benefits – you go at your own pace, you follow what resonates with you and there is absolutely no judgement or reason to feel a failure, which is how we often feel when we reach for that second slice of cake or extra glass of wine.
We have almost been programmed to ‘fail’ and that in itself can lead to a downward spiral of dieting followed by bingeing followed by shame. In order to change this our mindset and belief systems need to be tackled and this aspect is borne in mind throughout the program, with suggestions about how to overcome obstacles and blocks.
Having structure, guidance and doing this within a safe group environment is a great motivator and a useful source of shared successes and obstacles, so you always feel supported.
4. We don't realise we can influence biological ageing
Western societies, in particular, tend to just accept it as normal that getting older brings an inevitable decline in health, energy, appearance and stamina.
By using valuable information from studying the influence of diet and lifestyle both in the lab and on a larger scale there is now much greater clarity about the positive steps we can all take in order to have more control on how well we age.
During the course of the program we will take a look at evidence to show how biological age and healthy ageing in general can be altered for the better.
For example, there are places in the world called the Blue Zones, where a healthy, active life beyond 100 years old is relatively commonplace. The Blue Zones have attracted a lot of interest and the lifestyles of inhabitants who have aged especially well have been studied.
It has been found that they have many things in common and we will look at these during the program – they are simple and enjoyable to incorporate into our own lifestyles and help both physical and mental health.

Simple is not always easy!
The simplest advice can be the hardest to follow and if we try to do everything at once we are almost guaranteed to fail, unless we have a will of steel.
Each week we will look at things we can choose to add in gradually, with the reasons why and tips for success. You pick what you feel you can and can’t do. By doing this, what happens is that we develop healthy, sustainable habits that are much more easy to bring into our lives on a more permanent basis.
No-one has to tell us to get dressed or brush our teeth, for example. It’s a way of life. This how healthy habits should feel, so you almost don’t realise you are living a more healthy lifestyle than you were previously.
